What is your name, your occupation and business or where you work?
My name is Chloe Madison, I’m a psychic reader. I do most of my readings virtually and my preferred readings are actually my virtual readings because I can be in my own space.
When and how did you first realize you were a psychic?
It’s been a journey, when I was a little girl I grew up in a really religious household in a very small town. So it was really weird for me growing up feeling like I was a psychic. I remember crying in my bathroom and being like I'm going to be in trouble if I tell my parents they're going to send me away or I'm going to get grounded or they’re going to lock me in my room. I remember consciously closing it off and overcompensating by becoming very analytical because I didn't want to have the experiences that I was having. I thought people would think I was weird and I would get in trouble. I remember when I was even younger talking with angels or hearing voices. I kept thinking it was my mom talking to me and I remember getting in so much trouble because I got sent to my room one time and I heard outside of my ear, “Chloe, Chloe, Chloe.” I would go out and I'd be like, “Mom why are you yelling for me,” and she’d say, “I wasn't yelling for you, get back in your room,” it was really weird.
I feel like it was closed off for me for a very long time and then when I got a little bit older, when I was 15 or 16, I started getting really sick. I had just recently gotten legally emancipated, so I was by myself and didn’t have support. I was so sick that I couldn't get out of bed some days and I had this realization that I could either lay in bed and be miserable and hate my life or I could go anywhere I wanted in my imagination. When I did that, without knowing what I was doing, I taught myself to go into a different brain wave. Which is what people experience in the meditate or when they flow or do these kinds of spiritual things. I didn't know what was happening to me all I knew was I started having visions and these blocks that I had put in my mind started clearing. I started having memories of who I was and where I came from and then all the sudden it was unavoidable for me. I'd be at the grocery store and have a voice outside of my ear saying, “You need to go talk to this person, their sister died recently, their sister's name was Karen.” It was really weird and awkward and comfortable. It’s been an interesting journey, but now it’s a bit different now that I have an education on what I do.
How long have you been doing readings professionally?
I've been doing it professionally I want to say like four or five years technically. I was doing paid readings before I even knew my boyfriend and we’ve been together for 3 years now. But I was really secretive about it. I wasn't channeling readings, I was just doing tarot before. Now, I actually don't prefer tarot. I have people who are grandfathered into my tarot because I do it super non-traditional, it's weird. I don't always take new tarot clients because people have an expectation for how tarot is supposed to be. I graduated from psychic school, which is a 2-year program, maybe a year and a half ago. Throughout the program I was still doing readings, but that really changed my professional experience because it taught me how to use my natural gifts, like how to use them and where to direct them. Sometimes when you’re psychic reading someone there’s so much information that comes through it's overwhelming to communicate this to you, it's weird a lot and what is it that I'm even looking at. So that's really changed my world and I'm actually a teacher there now.
When did stones start becoming part of your practice?
Stones were in my life before I even started doing readings for people. I remember being a little girl and seeing the big geodes and thinking they were the prettiest things I've ever seen. When I got older in high school I actually was dating a guy and I told him I wanted one of those crystal necklaces and he told me “Why don’t you just make them yourself?” He took me to Michaels and we got all like the wire wrapping stuff. I used to sell wire wrapped sunglasses with crazy crystals and people would buy them for me and from me. People would ask me about the meanings and I would always be like, “Don't ask me anything, I don’t know they’re just pretty.” Stones had become a part of my spiritual practice when I had moved in with my best friend and I had gone through a breakup. She had this room that I moved into that had altars all over the room and her whole house was covered with crystals. I just noticed like I slept differently, my energy was different, I felt safer and I found myself open up. I feel like then it just started pouring in my life and I started learning about it. When I came into doing my readings I was really conscious of what stones I liked and what stones helped me with my energy. I've been working with stones before even doing readings and maybe it helped open me up to be able to do readings even more.
How can your psychic abilities manifest?
It happens in so many different ways, there's different Clairs. I'm sensitive to all the Clairs, so I experience all of them. But it's kind of like a language, “they're” trying to communicate. Whoever “they” are in that moment; whether it's angels, guides, loved ones who have passed on, whoever it is on the other side of the veil I guess you could say. I wasn't really into this stuff like I wasn't trying to be in the stuff. It became unavoidable in my life and I was super skeptical. I thought this was weird or I’m making it up in my head but it became unavoidable. I'll get visions sometimes or I'll have touching where I can be like, “You experience a lot of pain in your shoulder, I can feel it and it's in this part of your shoulder.” I can get voices outside of my head and sometimes I see stuff outside of my eyes, too. I try not to do that too much because then spirits want to show themselves to me.
Do you always get all of this information when you sit down with somebody or do you sometimes have to reach?
Before I went to school I would. But I’m very temperamental and I think when I’m nervous it does make it a little harder. Now I’m to the point in my career where even if I get a little nervous I can still channel. I do a psychic group too and we’ll share readings for each other, now I can be texting or drawing and psychic reading someone. I would never do that in a professional setting, but now I don’t have to try as hard. There are people who have guards up that I have to ask permission from their guards if I can go behind and look. The other thing is that I can’t read my boyfriend the same way I read other people - I’m blocked from my own life. I think maybe because my ego is involved and I’m biased that it takes me out of a channeled state and brings me into my mind.
Does being a psychic run in your family or are you the first one?
To be honest with you, I think that it does run in my family. My mom, who I haven’t seen since I was 16, hasn't been a part of my life for a long time. I have no judgment towards her and I love my mom, we just don't have a relationship. I think that she does have a gift but I think she closed herself off to it. I think that the reason why she is the way that she is, is when you have a gift and when you're a lot more sensitive, you feel things a lot, it's like you can feel everything. It's like tasting every different flavor that's in a piece of candy and not everybody's aware of that but you are and so you’re experiencing so much more. I feel like that's probably why she became the way that she did is because I think she's also gifted. It's so funny because my sister is my complete opposite; she's an Instagram model and I’m more keep to myself and down-to-earth. We’re total opposites so I would never think of her in that way, as being gifted in this way. She's a bit more cold, she's Sagittarius, but she has dreams sometimes and she'll tell me about these dreams. She had this one dream and she calls me and says, “I had a dream that you were pregnant,” and I just had a pregnancy scare. It was just weird for me because she's not into that stuff at all but I think that she also is gifted. But she doesn't experience it in the same way as me or doesn't feed that part of herself.
What are some must-have stones for psychics like yourself?
I feel like most people would tell you like labradorite or like black tourmaline and those are great stones. First of all, as a psychic, an intuitive person, an empath, I think that when you're called to a stone there's a reason and you should lean into those things. So I can tell you what I lean into for what helps me feel comfortable and clear, but it's going to be different for everybody. Of course black tourmaline, labradorite, selenite are important. For me I would say, selenite because it elevates the frequency of your space and makes it so you're channeling from a higher place. Blue lace agate is my favorite because it calms me and it makes me more clear. I feel like when you're reading there's so much information that comes through to you so sometimes it's hard to slow down and bring clarity into what you're actually communicating. For me, that's a really calming stone which I need because when I read, I go somewhere and it's hard for me to get back in my body. Even talking about it just gives me too much energy. Also, I feel like rose quartz because I think that rose quartz helps me read from my heart space and separate from my ego and then I'm not reading from my like analytical mind.
Is there a format for a typical reading or do you offer different services?
I offer 4 different services on my website, which are for people who just start working with me. People usually work with me for long periods of time. I don't read for the future, I'm not a palm reader - they take a weekend of course. I do a lot of other kinds of readings as well, but what I offer on my website for people who are just starting out with me is aura readings. Technically it's chakra readings, but my school teaches it as aura readings. You go through each chakra and you read where someone is at in their chakra. For example, I did a reading for a woman who I knew nothing about . It was my first time meeting her and I said, “You have a lot of pain in your solar plexus.” And it's like, “Great someone knows a bunch of random stuff about me but I already know about myself. Cool. Why did I pay this money?” And then clear information will come through to me about this is exactly how you’re supposed to go forward to heal this wound. To heal pain that you're experiencing in your stomach that manifested in your physical because you never dealt with it spiritually. That’s one example. Sometimes when I do aura readings loved ones will come through that have passed on. I don't have people come to me to speak to loved ones because I don't always like it, sometimes it makes me nervous. Because I feel like ghosts are trying to get my attention and I don't like that but if it comes up if it's safe. Then if I feel comfortable I’ll comment on whatever message they're asking to come through.
I also do readings called the rose readings where I look at where you're at along your spiritual journey. Are you on your Life Path? Are you off path? How connected are you to Spirits? This one is a little bit funny, sometimes I can't explain what comes through. I can also look at past life stuff in the rose reading. I try not to look at future stuff, that’s not my thing. I don’t believe in that, I feel like you have free will. And then I do what is called soul signature readings. That is for people who are disconnected from themselves and who want to become reconnected to themselves. Are you the fullest version of you? Or do you carry patterns and behaviors that are unconsciously blocking you or driving you? And you're kind of waiting through your life without ever fully becoming yourself. I technically have my tarot on my website but I don't always accept people. By request or if I know somebody or if they reach out to me I do also do question-specific readings. If someone is like this is specifically what I'm coming here to face in my life or to deal with.
Do you have common questions from clients? If so, what do you encounter most frequently?
I think the most common thing that happens is that people will ask for whatever wants to come through me. I like that, but if someone secretly has a question in the back of their mind or they’re looking for something really deep it depends. If it’s my first time reading you it might be more general or if you’re wanting something more general. But if you can give me clarity on what you're looking for it's a lot easier for me to go deeper into those things. So I like it when people come with questions, but sometimes the energy will just take over. For example I had someone recently whose son passed away and it just took over the reading. We went in to do an aura reading and then his son came through and then we just followed the flow of what your energy is trying to show me that it needs or what being comes through.
Regarding your clients, what are some of the ways you have suggested they use stones?
I think that you can use stones to change the energy in your own space, which is really important to have a safe space to go home to and clear other people’s energy from your space. There’s nothing worse than going home and it pulls you into a lower energy and frequency. I know that sounds like buzz words but I really mean that. Again, I feel like everyone should have selenite and rose quartz in the home. I think that it can help soften you, I think it can help elevate you and clear energies that you don't want. They change the energy in your home and protect yourself spiritually. We all need protection especially us empaths or sensitive people and crystals are an awesome way to do that.
Have you had any bad experiences of spirits coming through?
Just one time when I was doing a reading I couldn’t get this woman’s energy out of my field after. I cleared all this energy from her field, but I was still learning at the time - it was early in my schooling. So I got the energy out of her, then some of it got stuck in my field. I had this dark, mucky energy and I started having crazy nightmares every night. It took me weeks to feel better, I stopped reading people and I was really freaked out. There was one person too actually that was recent. Sometimes it's really vulnerable, sometimes I hold back what I say even if I see certain things because I'm gauging if this person can receive what I can see in them. Where are they at in their spiritual journey? Can they actually receive this level of truth? I had someone that I read recently where it seemed like they had a lot of dark energy around them that they were feeding. I know that sounds so weird, but they were being guided and liked it because they were benefiting from a more malevolent spirit. It was bringing them a lot of power and wealth but they are not very safe. I felt very unsafe and I shouldn’t have been reading that person.
What are 3 stones you would recommend to someone for everyday use?
Citrine because, to me, I feel like it is both sacral and solar plexus energy. It can help you be more creative and I feel like citrine is really beautiful. You want to walk through the world connected to your sense of self and strong in your solar plexus and able to navigate the world as yourself. It has that sacral energy of softening you and like helping you see the world through a more curious lens, if you know how to use it at least. If you let the energy in your space the beauty of it just can help bring creative creativity into your look or aesthetic. Again, selenite - I feel like selenite is your salt and pepper - you have to have selenite. Smoky quartz is another good one for clearing energy, for grounding. Also rose quartz, very simple. I feel like those are some like standard ones that you need to have. If you can have a big, giant piece of rose quartz - do it. Those are your steak and potatoes of crystals.
